Discipleship

Information and resources on discipleship at The Table

At The Table we recognize that Jesus didn’t ask us to make converts, he asked up to help people in a process called “Discipleship” where people baptized “in the name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit” are taught to follow “everything” Jesus asked of us (Matthew 28). Below is our process, from learning basic information about Jesus to developing the spiritual exercises to keep that relationship a priority in your life to discerning your passion and purpose in Christ.
WHAT IS DISCIPLESHIP?
Dallas Willard wrote, “But just there is the problem. Who among christians today is a disciple of Jesus, in any substantive sense of the word disciple? A disciple is a learner, a student, an apprentice, a practitioner even if only a beginner. Steadily learning from him how to live the life of the Kingdom of God into every corner of human existence."

  • UP | HEAD - 7 BASIC COMMANDS OF CHRIST
Christ has many important teachings, but here we are going to explore, memorize, and practice the seven most basic commands of Jesus. Let’s look in Acts 2 to see what the earliest church was doing.

  • IN | HEART - 7 SPIRITUAL PRACTICES
we believe that God can meet us in any way anywhere, but there are some scriptural and time-honored practices that shape us. These are the “means of grace,” places where we practice the presence of God and wait for God empowerment in our lives. We will be exploring practices that help us, like bodily exercise, get our spiritual life in shape to grow up into Christ and be strong against any storm life can bring.

  • OUT | HANDS - 7 WEEKS ON GIFTS, PASSIONS, & SKILLS
As we learn (UP) and Grow (IN), we will looking at ourselves, gifts, passions, etc, to see how best to share the good things we’re learning and find out how best to serve the church family and neighborhood we’re in.
